Polo is a fast-paced equestrian sport played on horseback, where teams aim to score goals by striking a small ball into the opposing team’s goal using a mallet. It’s unique in that you have two sets of teammates: your fellow players and your horse!

At the Hong Kong Polo Club, we focus on Arena Polo, a variation played in a smaller, enclosed space with three players per team. Arena Polo uses a larger, softer ball and highlights precision, teamwork, and quick decision-making. It’s ideal for beginners, as the controlled environment makes learning more accessible and allows play year-round.

No experience or horses are needed, just bring your enthusiasm! Our school welcomes everyone, from adults who have never ridden before to children with prior equestrian experience. All lessons and polo activities are conducted on our specially trained polo ponies, known for their safety, reliability, and big hearts—both on and off the field.

Yes! We offer lessons for children as young as 4. We also offer special youth programs (pre-polo and junior polo) as well as occasionally summer camps and events.

No! We have a select string of experienced and gentle school ponies or our polo lessons and matches.

We provide chaps, helmets, chaps, mallets, and everything you need free of charge for your taster session and first few lessons! For your comfort, we do recommend boots with a short heel (i.e. paddock boots) if possible!

If you continue with polo, we’ll recommend places where you can purchase equipment more comfortable and suited towards you.
